There might be a workaround... When the installation starts (Linuxrc) and drivers loaded, see which modules/drivers are used for your SATA disk/controller. There should be list of drivers that could be used. Then, you can try to disable the first, (first and second, ...) module to force Linuxrc to skip it (them) and try the next one.
