The latest kernel ( 2.6.22.9-0.4) enclosed with openSUSE 10.3 repositories caused hanging processes with state "D" = "disk sleep". Random processes got caught into endless state "D" and cannot be killed. I am using reiserfs file system.
In order to resolve the problem, I had to downgrade my kernel to 2.6.18.2-34 which is shipped with openSUSE 10.2 (this is the only disks I have around). The error happened with my system, I do not if it going to happen with yours if you have similar system configuration. I just wanted to report this error/problem. Regards, Ali H.
