I think that this is reason.
If initrd not contain  jfs  driver module,  it can not to boot.  Your
should boot jfs  system
using  rescue and execute mkinitrd. Other ways its not so easy.

Issue is not so easy, because it seems that originally in openSuse 10.3 is
not support for jfs. Perhaps  it is easier boot without initrd if jfs
support is
compiled into kernel.
