I have forgotten that first popped up window saying that another program is 
using software management. 
Hmm ... who would be that? 
Ah, yes. Software updater was running. 
I finished updates and went back to network device dialog, told to retry and 
than got network device configuration. 

This is for sure not obvious for first time users.
