Hi,

The best start is checking the .xsession-errors in the users home
directory. Very often there are hints on what went wrong there.

One thing that MIGHT be the issue is the accidental update of gconf
ahead of 3.1.5 (to 3.1.6) which was breaking a few things. That was
reverted this morning back to 3.1.5. Hopefully the build is being
published soon enough there (But this must not explicitly be your
issue...)
