In addition to that, is it possible to get the guest out of that state
from the host?

 # virsh resume opensuse12.3
error: Failed to resume domain opensuse12.3
error: Requested operation is not valid: domain is pmsuspended

And 'init 0' inside the guest does not power down, instead the guest
reboots.
