Yes although one can understand each other (I am Portuguese and talk with brazilliand everyday), specially when talking, there are many terms that are not common and sometimes difcult to realize their meaning. One godd execise would be to compare the pages that are translated to PT and the ones translated to PT-BR (most of the main main ones, if not all, are already translated to both languages).
And both are sopken and understood by a lage amount of the worlds population, and so I think they both deserve to be fully available and translated to.
