I have a lot of work to do before the french wiki is up to

You must be aware of the way category/sub categories works.

the mai  interest is that any category can go in several top
categories, so multiple ways can bring to the same result.
You can have any top category you thing usable (as long as
the name is unique and the list is short) as can I do.

and this is a build in feature, no need to go manually.

you can do the same with articles, but this is not
automatic. However it's very easy to find the root page from
any subpage (sub pages have the link to the father pages)
