well, I am double-minded on this topic. I really don't know. I just made
a splash screen because it was suggested.

After almost 10 years as a "webmaster" at SUSE/Novell I can tell you
that any "language magic" you put into an openSource webpage is the
most evil thing you can do (next to Cookies, Javascript and Java). I
tried to implement different methods for automatic language detection
on www.suse.com. Each time I did it I was heavily flamed by users for
doing so. The last time I remember we were accused of "browser
hijacking" on, I think /. (not sure). All I did that time was
evaluating $HTTP:Accept-Language and doing a redirect based on the
value.
So, sorry, but I will not implement _any_ language magic on
opensuse.org. Just let the user decide which language he/she wants
(this does _not_ imply that we need a splash screen, of course).
