I did some tests and am now totally confused about the reason of the
failure :-(

http://en.opensuse.org/How_To_Upgrade_System_with_Separate_/var_Partition
contains 2 screenshots. When viewed in Konqueror, none of them is
displayed. In Firefox, at least the first one is visible.
("view image" results in a 404 error)

I logged in into the wiki to get the page non-cached (at least from the
mediawiki POV) in both browsers, but this doesn't make a difference.

I also tried to get the screenshots via telnet files.opensuse.org 80,
which caused mixed results:
- copying the image URL from Konqueror also resulted in a 404
- copying the image URL from telnet session to get the Image: page
  worked (see [1] for transcript)
- but: pasting the same URL into another telnet files.opensuse.org 80
session resulted in a 404 again :-/ (see [2] for transcript)
- the success in [1] might also have been caused by /dev/random

Summary:
- Since this happens in several browsers and also with raw HTTP access
via telnet, I'm quite sure it is a server side problem.
- Only recently (since yesterday?) uploaded images are affected - but
this doesn't mean all of them are broken.
- Additionally, /dev/random seems to play a role also :-/

A question to avoid that disk/filesystem problems are involved: Does the
file /opensuse/en/7/78/YaST-Disk-FstabOptions.png exist on
files.opensuse.org? Please check on the disk with "ls -l", not with
your browser ;-)

[Serieller Anschluss] Mittlerweile ist (fast) alles USB. OK, es gibt
auch Adapter, aber die kosten wieder extra. Und der Rechner soll später
nicht aussehen wie ein Tannenbaum, mit einem Bündel herabhängender
Adaptern anstatt Lametta. [Ralph Müller in suse-linux]
