piix is offered up by one the dialog boxes, and I load it - and as I said, I have no problem accessing the IDE disks using fdisk? OK, I guess that could be module autoloading. Is this new in 10.0 - having to load ide_disk when doing a manual install? I don't remember having had to do it before. SCSI-drivers yes, but not IDE.
