If you only want to create the metadata, you just need the package
createrepo (noarch) which requries rpm-python, libxml2-python and python.
The package is available for 9.1-10.0.
In case you want to access yum repos from a SUSE distribution <= 10.0,
you'd have to get the whole yum stack (yum + requirements) and then use
yum instead of YaST to install the packages.
