Theres one thing you have to understand. Its relatively easy to create a package. Its not easy at all to maintain a package. Maintain a package means: * Fix packaging bugs * Help with installation problems * Incorporate upstream fixes * Incorporate security fixes * Keep the package up to date * Keep the package rebuildable * Redirect code bugs upstream All this for various package versions for various distro versions.
