Another way would be to symlink /tmp -> /var/slash_tmp - this provides a 
more flexible solution. Unfortunately, large files in /tmp also fills 
the /var diskspace (and the other way round) which could block too much 
services. On the other hand: if somebody wants to fill up /var, he can 
use /var/tmp...
