I wasn't too happy about making the switch beforehand, to be sure... but I really like Kontact and would recommend it to anybody. As far as turning text/flowed format "off"... yes, I think if you edit the preferences.js file (turning a couple of "true" values to "false" I think) your message bodies behave normally but the problem is in the "wrapper" encoding and wasn't affected.
