Hey All,
I've got an hp pavilion dv4000 (dv4040US) laptop that I've tried to
get Linux working on. I've tried SuSE 9.3, Fedora 4, Linspire Five-O,
and Ubuntu 5.10 "Breezy Badger". So far, only SuSE 9.3 and Ubuntu 5.10
have worked on this laptop for the most part (Linspire worked good, but
its just too 13yr oldish for me). But all dist's had hardware listed
that was 'unknown'.
I'm concerned with the hardware support I'll have in SuSE 10.
Mainly because this lappy has the Centrino chipset. I want to use SuSE
Linux, its by far my favorite distribution. However, I want to ditch
Windows for something that works. Can anyone speak of the hardware
(laptop) support in SuSE 10? Most of my devices worked in SuSE 9.3,
minus my card reader, but there were other 'unknown' devices. Also, can
anyone give any information as to whether the purchased version of SuSE
10 will have more proprietary drivers, or is it just proprietary
apps/plug-ins? Thanks for any help you can give me, I'm dying to get
back into SuSE full-time, but have a good running lappy!!
