I have tried this, but the problem is that when you put in the new device it 
never even does a plug and play on it. Its like the device is not even there.

Yes, when i have done this in the past, yes it does damage the drive if it is 
mounted, but if it is unmounted then it is fine.

So is there a way to turn off power to the modular device and then unload it 
and put in the new device and have it plug and play.
I know in the past Dell has made some windows apps that do that for you so that 
you can have this capability. Does anyone know of a similar Linux App.
