Apt is able to install a new kernel. But to call it "supported", is
the wrong term. Kernel upgrades with YAST are possible. But also have
been for a long time.
If you call the suse support and ask them about kernel upgrades, they
will say that is not part of the installtion support. That is what
"support" sounds like.
