do you run lwresd?
what's the contens of your /etc/resolv.conf?
what's the contens of your /etc/nsswitch.*?
what's the contens of your /etc/host.conf?

That's a problem, how "dnsmasq" handles such requests...

Not really sure about this. I know that Apple has registered this 
(pseudo-)tld for Rendezvous. There was an article on 
developer.apple.com, but I can't remember the exact URI.
