Is bittorrent a command line option or is it only under x? Is there
anything else that is reliable?

The original BitTorrent program has both a curses and a headless option, called btdownloadcurses.py and btdownloadheadless.py respectively.

And, incidentally, how does one call it (bittorrent)? I installed it
from a downloaded rpm using Yast but it hasn't shewn on any menu and
wasn't exactly forthcoming with telling me what to type in using either
alt-f2 or from a shell....

try "rpm -ql BitTorrent" (without quotes). This will list all files installed with the BitTorrent package. pin is also your friend, man pin.

Don't assume much knowledge!!!

We don't, thats what lists, AND GOOGLE is for. (sorry for shouting) ;)
