For those interested, the following package MUST be installed prior to MaxDB 7.6 installation:
compat-libstdc++ v5.0.7 To install it, insert OpenSuSE CD #2 and run yast2. A non-default lightweight installation of OpenSUSE (without graphics environment) won't include this package, default install (tested using Gnome desktop) already includes this package.
