I don't know about the number. The number actually depends on the threshold value you set for "active". I have two possible reasons in my mind but there might be more: - Just for fun. They think it is a cool thing to do something with the SUSE distribution. - For specific needs. They want to have some additional stuff or something in a different way as provided by the Novell provided version because they need it for their business, project, or personal needs.
