Suggestion is of course to open a bugreport for this in our bugzilla.
If he can reproduce the crash with a specific sourcefile, he should
run the same command with --save-temps and attach the preprocessed

It turned out, that it's rather a kernel problem. I booted SUSE Linux
10.0 PPC with a recent beta3 kernel, and the problem went away, no more
random crashes during compilations.
So I put my original question in an other form: could there be any side
effects from using kernel from 10.1 beta3 on 10.0? I could not find any,
all hardware, even 3D acceleration works as expected. Bye,
