I would say that Novell paying for SUSE staff, servers and the whole
openSUSE project is a huge way to claim that they support it AND a extreme
good way to do it.

They have already put their money where their mouth is. The shareholders
have said to Novell to go ahead and invest even MORE in Linux.

And about this thing people not wiling to work for free: have you ever
heard of Debian?

Perhaps you think in a way that says: Novell is a company, I should get
money. I see it differently. I see it as openSUSE where I have the
oportunity to give back to thousands of people. For me that is more
rewarding then getting the money.

That said, if Novell gives me money, I would not say no. :-)
