Bootdisks? It's long time ago I used them the last time ;-)

Never seen that - but that may be related to not using boot disks ;-)
Are you sure your disks are OK? badblocks?

That said, I'd recommend to boot the installation as described on 
http://en.opensuse.org/Installation_without_CD#Installing_from_data_on_your_own_machine
