So we have two problems at hand:
* 9.0 and 9.1 need the "old" tree -> 9.0 ist discontinued, 9.1 will

* i386 as a prefix for i386, x86_64 and ppc is confusing. This can
 be solved with a symlink (e.g. "generic" -> "i386").

The "i386" directory level just should fade away. It is not true, it is misleading, it just has no place there.

No other word instead, just take it away.
Easy to do for the rsyncers, with hard links.
