Now you know what to do when a site is down. ;-)
What I do when a site seems to be down is a telnet on port 80, to see if
the server reacts. Next a `curl -I ...` to see what it reacts to.
This makes it easier to find out what the problem was or might have been.
It also makes it very often clear if the error is on your side.
When the site can not be reached I use a traceroute. I hardly ever use a
ping as that confuses more and almost never mean anything if you are not
the maintainer of the network.
Please do not get me wrong, I am not saying that there was no problem, I
am just telling how you could help better the next time you see a problem
here or elsewhere.
