I rerun the script, this time under "su -" and not simply "su"; ie, fully 
as root, envronment changed. Most of the errors have dissapeared, it 
cleaned up after himself, it doesn't complain about not being able to 
delete anything. The iso image is the same size as the previous run, but 
different (so says diff).

The remaining problems or warnings are these:

Ah, ok. The bug is also present in 9.3. That link mentions only 10.0.

I did rerun it, anyway, and obtained a different image, so there was 
something wrong.
