I've been running suse on all sorts of nvidia cards, from a riva tnt 2 to a
6600, with and without the converters, and I've never seen a kernel panic from
any of them. Is is possible that it's a bad card? If it works fine elsewhere,
there may be issues with your motherboard/BIOS - nvidia has a blacklist of
known bad hardware, and maybe you just got lucky there.
