There are a lot of messages with complaints about 10.1 version and some thread comparing it with Ubuntu. What I think is that some people got good and bad experience with this version as happened with previous ones. There are always problems with new versions and sometimes people, techies included, don't want to see their environment changed, they prefer things where and how always been. This community requires more technical collaboration, unfortunately, it seems that we are just users, document writers, packagers and there are some, few developers to support and fix errors or create new software. All hard work still remains on SuSE people (I believe Novell adds nothing but some budget, I mean, little brain from Novell to this project). Maybe an approach similar to Gentoo distro to integrate people should work for openSUSE : they have project teams for every task and anyone can participate and has some "career path" defined. There is weekly newsletter with news from around the world (which is easier than going to the web and look for them), there are organized user groups (Novell should forget the Novell stuff and use their NUI to support just SUSE Linux and nothing else). Also, I wish to read some comments about SUSE Linux 10.1 in the server area. I know, it's not supposed to be used there, but, I don't think that I'm the only one using it for servers and with a recognized success from customers.

I have no tried to install Opensuse 10.1 for the fourth time. Everything is ok after the install are finished. I use Yast to take the first update on the system and then the "fun" begin. Some of the updates do not like my AC 97 sound. before I did the update the sound is fine, but after it is choppy, it seams my system is working on a heavy load. My cd sound is fine, but the start sound on KDE is twice as long as it shall.Playing streamig radio on Amarok give small dropouts in the sound. Zen now tell my that: Transaction failed: Package transaction failed: You do not have the required access level (superuser) for this method. I did give it root password on the first start. My opensuse 10.0 work fine, also after the last update, last night.
