KlamAV doesn't require it to operate, and in fact runs just fine without the 
dazuko module. It will scan for viruses when and where you tell it to, and 
you can schedule it to scan directories in advance. 

However, if you want real time (auto)scanning to be enabled then the module 
needs to be loaded on your system. This is not just a KlamAV thing. You'll 
find the same to be true of Antivir, which provides its own frontend if so 
desired.

The "problem" on SuSE is that the dazuko module conflicts with AppArmor, and 
so it becomes an either/or situation. I'll defer (for good reason) to 
Pascal's appraisement of packaging issues, but will only mention that I've 
created binary tarballs for that program on Slack-based environments with no 
roadblocks.
