I think you mean a VESA compliant display, which virtually every PC 
adapter/chipset supports. Have you confirmed the number of colors being 
transmitted to the display is supported? Could it be the color bit-depth is 
being set to maximum (32-bit) or 'True Color' (24-bit) but the display only 
supports 16-bit?

This is a very important clue. It looks to me like the selected horizontal 
scan and vertical refresh rates and possibly also the color bit-depth are 
incorrect as configured by SaX2.

How am I to know? My crystal ball is always very foggy! ;-)  Besides, I 
researched some similar phrases and Google returned several dozen 'hits'. Are 
you saying you found /nothing/ helpful at all? What have you tried?
