Thank you Lars and all the rest! What you sent me seems to have most of what I was asking about (except if anyone had tried pam_mount or used any other method for automatic directory mounting in active directory/centralised authentication-- idle curiosity once again ).
I look forward to testing out my new distribution for internal use. If the customisation process is as simple as outlined in the documentation, I definitely look forward to it :). Now, I have a lot of reading to do, hehe.
