Actually it would be great if the execs who put together the deal DID resort to 
an IRC channel. Everyone present was just as clueless about the real motives as 
we all are.

I think we all pretty much have a sense that "customers demanding 
interoperability" were perhaps not the only driving force behind the deal.

Maybe the top execs will show up at the next meeting. That would be great. 
Meanwhile, if a bunch of smart engineers are still quite confused about the 
meaning of a simple business deal, maybe it's because they are missing some 
data.

I am hoping that Mr. Hovsepian, Mr. Jaffe and the other insiders respect their 
own employees enough to fill them in on what they were REALLY thinking. No 
matter what the truth is it's better than a whitewash.

I would not continue to work for people who tried to feed me stories about a 
deal that may have profound implications for something that I've worked 
passionately on.
