Well, I can happily report that, after nearly six hours of use,
including very heavy traffic it hasn't locked up so it seems to Work For
Me[TM] on Factory/i586; YMMV as always.
Now, as for why it's not included in openSUSE, there is a license
question mark. No license (GPL or otherwise) is included in the tarball
and the only clue is line 98 of r1000_n.c that reads:
MODULE_LICENSE("GPL");
I've asked Realtek the question of the license and received no response.
