Sorry. It is the latest 3.5 in the build service. I have not even
considered 4 at this time. I have been keeping the 3.5 releases
up-to-date on a regular basis (checked weekly or so) and this has been
working really great.

I do not know about the xterm error. I do not have any xterm starting.
What type of session does 'startx - 1' start? As I wrote earlier, it is
only KDE and GNOME started via kdm that fail. All other managers work. I
tried them all.
