This is actually a great question Aaron.

Because of the way in which Novell entered into the deal with Microsoft
(timing, details, press, etc) a trust issue exists--- as well as high
speculation based on legitimate history and fear. Regardless, at this point
in time it looks like the community will actually benefit from this deal...
even Shuttleworth's community will benefit. The deal will keep Novell in the
black for the moment allowing them to continue to build the best world-class
open software distribution, as well as sending a powerful Linux positive
message to the corporate world--- and the deal really only amounts to
expensive "posturing" from a Microsoft vantage point. Linux in general may
have actually taken on critical mass here... truly, this may be an historic
moment to cherish.
Novell's communication skills could be improved; however, these two

will go a long way towards mending that fence... I recommend them to everyone

Linux and the open source movement are alive and well, and Novell is a

player. Open communication will bridge trust gaps and foster solidarity---
hopefully, Novell has learned a couple of lessons here... and hopefully the
