AFAIK, it has always been like this. RTFM: http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html ==> NOTE: There is no need to try to enable 3D support. It's already enabled, when the nvidia driver is running. Is your X not working? Or do you want to verify whether you're now really using the Nvidia driver? Check /var/log/Xorg.0.log.
