Ah, well, yes xmms would work but as distributed from SUSE it will not play mp3, either locally or streamed. Who knows what else is crippled intentionally. Just add this packman mirror to your installation sources : http://mirror.geht-schon.de/packman.links2linux.de/suse/10.2/ and it will fix xmms and a few other things that need fixing.
