I think you have two different and independent problems:
1) Your normal system has problems mounting dvds ("Method "Mount" with
signature "ssas" on interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" on
interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" doesn't exist.)
2) The 10.2 was burned incorrectly.
As to 1), I use manual mounting only, so I can't help.
