AFAIK, 5 possible options here
1-recompile your kernel to enable smbfs (and every time you update your
kernel)
2-substitute cifs for smbfs if you don't need connectivity to win9x or OS/2
3-replace SUSE 10.2 with Mandriva 2007
4-replace SUSE 10.2 with Ubuntu 6.10
5-replace SUSE 10.2 with Debian Etch
