Hi All,
after ATI discontinued supporting Radeon 9000 I decided to switch the
the OSS driver, which I think is more stable and easy to maintain. So
far I've got it running with Compiz under AIGLX and Ubuntu.

The problem is that, with this version of Xorg (7.1.1), me and other
users reported general slowness and glitches with scrolling.

I was thinking to switch to opensuse 10.2 for several reasons, but the
most attractive aspect which would make the migration trivial is the
presence of Xorg 7.2rc2. This should run updated Mesa and Radeon
drivers and, hopefully, make things running little bit better (I hope
WAY better).

Is this a dream? After a lot of googling I have read a lot of the same
problems reported by both Fedora and Ubuntu users, but nobody using
opensuse has ever reported complaints.

Does somebody with my same configuration (AIGLX, Radeon 9000, Xorg
Radeon OSS drivers, Compiz or Beryl) ever found any problem?
Particularly with scrolling?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Fabio

P.S.: I will try to avoid at best another laptop which makes use of
ATI cards, their drivers are crappy and the time you spend on
troubleshooting is unacceptable. I'm not blaming you for this, keep
the good work up! :-)
