So, I wonder why I don't have it? Or the ability to choose a profile on boot up? Also, how to fix either of the above?
James, What do you see in KDE (you are using KDE, right?) "Personal settings" -> "Session manager"? There is a checkbox "Offer shutdown options" under "General".
