I experienced a kernel oops when trying to install openSUSE 10.2 in a
VMware virtual machine hosted by an IBM Netfinity 5500 M10 8661 51Y
running under Suse Linux 9.3.

A screenshot of the oops is available at
<http://www.rainer-klute.de/~klute/Misc/netfinity_oops.html>.

On the same box openSUSE 10.1 installed successfully in a VMware virtual
machine. It executes Suse Linux 9.3 as the host operating system.

The kernel oopses on each of the installation variants, i.e.

    * Installation
    * Installation--ACPI Disabled
    * Installation--Local APIC Disabled
    * Installation--Save Settings
    * Rescue System

The screenshot is visible when installing in text mode only. In the
graphics mode the installation just hangs.

To reproduce the oops just start the installation: The kernel loads,
starts to execute, and then... oops!

I didn't try to install openSUSE 10.2 on the bare machine yet, i.e.
without VMware. But since openSUSE 10.1 runs smoothly in a VM this
shouldn't be an issue.
