I was about to post about this very problem. I have a Compaq proliant
6400R and found through this bug report that I could complete my
install.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204147

Unfortunately, no further updates have been made and this bug still
appears to exist in the production release.

I have found the exact same situation. This is a quad cpu box (PIII) and
I would sure like to get all four working again.

Note: I'm using the i386 install and I've got a compaq RAID controller instead
of SATA.

Note2: A lot of these bugs are getting marked as a duplicate of 202079 because
the install hangs at the same location, when in fact the symptoms are quite
different. This one is specifically related to SMP.
