Ahhh. Thanks. I missed that when searching throught the archives.
I agree on the "over-ride default" option: that would be nice.
Again, thanks. We were at wit's end here trying to roll this out on
new laptops.

I've checked it on my laptop with OpenSuSE 10.2 and it works exactly
as Mathias wrote: F3 on Grub screen allows profile selection.
