Past history, doesn't seem to make any difference :^( Date: Sun, 03 Dec 2006 16:47:24 +0000 From: Patrick Shanahan at Labix Tracker <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [issue260] Primary information not found... New submission from Patrick Shanahan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: present report: 09:53 wahoo:~ # smart update some.alias Loading cache... error: Primary information not found in repository metadata for 'some.alias' Updating cache... ################## [100%] result: without deleting the /var/lib/smart/channels/.....some.alias....repmode.xml file, this channel is never updated. requested change: since the error is recognized when loading the cache, initiate deletion of the offending repmode.xml file before proceeding. expected result: further automation of process, reduced operator intervention and complexity seen by user. Mauricio Teixeira (netmask) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> added the comment: This is not an error of the "missing file" kind. It only happens if there is no reference to "primary.xml.gz" inside the file "repomd.xml", which means it's a channel metadata generation bug. Being so, whenever the metadata gets regenerated the channel will be updated correctly. ---------- nosy: +netmask status: unread -> resolved Date: Mon, 4 Dec 2006 18:20:02 -0500 From: Patrick Shanahan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [issue260] Primary information not found... * Mauricio Teixeira (netmask) at Labix Tracker <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [12-04-06 13:42]: > > Mauricio Teixeira (netmask) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> added the comment: > > This is not an error of the "missing file" kind. These will correct themselves during the update function if the /var/lib/smart/channels/<particular. alias>.repmode.xml file is deleted, but will continue to announce errors if not deleted. Sometimes to the point that smart faults/crashes. There was no response.
