Past history, doesn't seem to make any difference :^(

Subject: [issue260] Primary information not found...

New submission from Patrick Shanahan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

present report:
09:53 wahoo:~ # smart update some.alias
Loading cache...
error: Primary information not found in repository metadata for
'some.alias'

Updating cache... ################## [100%]

result: without deleting the
/var/lib/smart/channels/.....some.alias....repmode.xml file, this
channel is
never updated.

requested change: since the error is recognized when loading the
cache,
initiate deletion of the offending repmode.xml file before proceeding.

expected result: further automation of process, reduced operator
intervention
and complexity seen by user.

This is not an error of the "missing file" kind. It only happens if
there is no
reference to "primary.xml.gz" inside the file "repomd.xml", which means
it's a
channel metadata generation bug. Being so, whenever the metadata gets
regenerated the channel will be updated correctly.

What about the other error messages issued when loading the cache that
indicate a particular channel? These will correct themselves during
the update function if the /var/lib/smart/channels/<particular.
alias>.repmode.xml file is deleted, but will continue to announce
errors if not deleted. Sometimes to the point that smart
faults/crashes.

There was no response.

Perhaps you can make a difference?
