Yeh, I've seen  RPMxxxx  <whatever> files when an RPM gets loaded and there is 
an existing config file....   But never paid any attention to them whatever 
because I knew the file that was there was the one I wanted.

But I ALWAYS do fresh installs of any distro, so I rarely see them.
