I'm not bashing Kopete because I "cannot figure out how to do something"...

As I already said, I tried every single combination on the Chat-Window 
appearance ...

Maybe this is a hard-coded feature and can't be changed at all...

Configure, Appearance, Chat Window, and maybe try Retropete Style. 
There are many options.  It does not endear yourself to those wanting to
be a help to start using a program and then bashing IT because you
cannot figure out how to do something.
