(^_^) Well, yeah. You'll need to install grub.
(^_^)
(^_^) One of the cool things about grub is that only the very small 1st stage
is
(^_^)loaded into the mbr. The second stage is loaded from /boot and the whole
(^_^)process is controlled by the menu.lst profile at bootup... its dynamic
too...
(^_^)so that it can be changed on the fly (grub commands) at bootup and it can
be
(^_^)changed with an editor while the machine is running.... no need to reload
the
(^_^)mbr every time a change is made (as in lilo).
(^_^)
(^_^) Well, we missunderstood your situation. I thought you were booting with
grub
(^_^)and experiencing difficulty.... I did not realize that you were booting
from
(^_^)lilo. <sorry>
(^_^)
(^_^) Good night... I've had enough for one day.

No, I should apologize because it was grub I was getting the error
message, but during the "try darn near ANYTHING" mode I was in, I had
installed lilo while installing another distro and I think the lilo
entry in the mbr was still there. I should have made that part clearer,
I did wipe the mbr and tried everything again, but it's still giving me
headaches. I did in fact try installing lilo and it said that "sh:
/sbin/lilo: no such file or directory.

Can't win for losing I guess. I am really blurry eyed right now, so
like you, I'm finally going to call it a night. Thanks for all your help!
